“Pop Meets the Void“
Tweetable Logline:
A dark comedy about a musician who’s been working on his first album for almost 15 years, Pop Meets the Void is a twisted indie-music film.
Elevator Pitch:
POP MEETS THE VOID is a part live-action, part-animation comedy that follows an aspiring musician as he struggles to write, record and release his first album after 15 years of toiling in obscurity. Told through a series of parallel narratives that explore different ideas of success, the film shows the musician as multiple versions of himself – failing, succeeding, quitting and, of course, wildly successful. These narratives overlap, crisscross, intertwine and seemingly never end in this dark, surrealist, indie-rock comedy. The soundtrack is composed by the film’s writer/director William Cusick, who also stars in the film.

About the Production:
“I’ve been writing and recording songs most of my life, and I’ve always wondered what would have happened had I pursued my dream of becoming a professional musician – my guess is it would have been a disaster. Things have changed so much since I was a teenager in the 90’s – the rise of the Internet and the collapse of the music industry have given re-birth to the musician industry, and now anyone can create and distribute high quality recordings. From 2010-2012, I gave that a try to see what it’s like – those experiences spawned this film.”
